Planning a Family? Boost Insurance Coverage Now
Before you get pregnant, increase your insurance coverage or make sure your current policies provide adequate maternity benefits. (Some policies include waiting periods, excluding coverage during the first year or so after the policy takes effect.) Also consider increasing your life insurance policies, since the number of dependents will naturally increase, and if one parent will stay at home, consider a life insurance policy for that parent even if they have no "income" that must be replaced since hiring a caregiver could be very expensive.
And also check out disability insurance: Pregnancy is often considered a pre-existing condition, so take out a disability policy before getting pregnant that way the pregnancy will be covered by the policy.
